LOST HORIZONS
"Free-Falling – A Collection Of Free Verse” – 3/8/06
I woke up to the memory of lazy summer days,
Spent in a town where father helped shape the laws of my land.
Wonderful time of discovery, as only a child can experience.
The sun shinning on Mother’s face as she bent over my bed,
Never told me how fleeting a presence she would become.
In my exile, I cry for what I could not then appreciate.
Before, I wanted to grow up, to escape the scrutiny of adults,
Not knowing how painful an experience this would be.
Later on when I wanted to go back to being a child,
A feeling of letdown I experienced in leaving the land I love.
Cherished even more because of my inability to recapture,
What I had neglected to enjoy until it had ceased to exist.
